The Opportunity
Woof is seeking a skilled and creative UX/UI Designer to join our team on a full time or contract basis. This role will report into the Creative Director, with a dotted line to our VP of Ecomm, and will be crucial for enhancing our website's user experience and interface through focused design projects and ongoing improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to tackle a variety of design challenges, from high-level strategic projects to detailed, day-to-day optimizations.
You'll be responsible for the full design lifecycle of our digital projects, including user experience research, wireframing, visual design, and prototyping. You'll play a key role in ensuring our website not only looks great but also provides a seamless and intuitive experience for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the digital presence of a rapidly growing CPG brand in the pet industry.
What You’ll Own
Design Projects:
You'll take the lead on the design portion of our most complex initiatives, collaborating with our creative team to bring new features and major enhancements to life. These projects require a comprehensive approach to problem-solving and a meticulous focus on balancing UX and UI principles.
- New features, major enhancements, or highly interactive elements: Conceive creative solutions for showcasing information, designing entirely new website sections, and improving existing ones to ensure clarity and easy understanding.
- Design workflow management: Lead the design phase for major projects, from initial concepts to robust, finalized designs that are ready for development and deployment.
Daily Improvements:
You'll be responsible for a variety of smaller-scale design tasks aimed at consistently enhancing the customer experience.
- Optimizing existing sections: Improve modules and other website elements to provide customers with a better understanding of our products and what they do.
- Designing new features: Create new sections and solve problems in creative ways to enhance the user experience and improve product understanding.
- Improving conversion elements: Redesign elements like pop-ups and cart flyouts to boost their effectiveness.
- Ad-hoc improvements: Address various small design changes identified by the team or inspired by market trends.
Bigger Projects:
You'll provide the UX/UI expertise for our larger, strategic initiatives that will transform our website.
- Website redesign: Take the lead on improving the entire look and feel of the website to achieve a more modern and refined aesthetic.
- "Build Your Own" module: Design a comprehensive, custom module that allows customers to build their own personalized product selections and shopping carts.
- Navigation menu improvement: Enhance the navigation menu from a UX/UI perspective to ensure intuitive Browse, organized categories, and easy product discovery.
- UX/UI audit and recommendations: Conduct thorough audits of the existing website to identify pain points and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a strong focus on e-commerce and web-based applications.
- Proven experience in creating high-fidelity mockups, wireframes, prototypes, and user flows.
- A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to design for both user experience and user interface, with examples of your work on complex projects and iterative improvements.
- Expertise in design tools such as Figma.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- A deep understanding of current UX/UI trends, best practices, and mobile-first design principles.
Bonus Points If You Have…
- Worked in the pet industry.
- Experience with a Shopify-based e-commerce store.
- Are a dog parent!
What We Offer
- This is a contract opportunity with potential to convert to perm.
- Schedule of 30 hours/week.
- Remote but strong preference for Denver-based.
- Hourly compensation range: $75-90/hour
