Product Development Project Manager
Woof
Who We Are
Woof is building the next great American pet brand - bringing new life to the industry through elegant, intuitive product design. Proudly recognized among America’s fastest growing CPG companies, Woof is reinventing stagnant sectors to solve real problems for pets and their people.
This is evidenced by our three award-winning product ecosystems - The Pupsicle, BullySafe and Bite n’ Brush - all revolutionizing dog care by providing wellness solutions in a fun and engaging way.
Today, we are experiencing extremely rapid growth, and as such we’re seeking experienced people to take the company to the next level. If you’re passionate about meaningful work, have a bias towards action, and love dogs as much as we do we’d love to have you on our team.
The Opportunity
Woof is seeking a driven Product Development Project Manager to oversee the company’s innovation & new product launch initiatives. This role will be responsible for the day to day tasks of bringing new Woof concepts to market, including interfacing with key suppliers, developing project timelines, coordinating development schedules, and working cross-functionally with stakeholders to make sure key deadlines and documentation needs are met.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in CPG execution. They will have familiarity with standard manufacturing processes (extrusion, molding, packaging development, consumables manufacturing, etc.), a rich understanding of how manufacturing & design details impact the greater organization (impacting ops, sales, etc.), and experience working in a fast-paced, innovative environment to bring new products to market.
This role will require being a team player with a strong bias for action. It requires excellent initiative to preempt & resolve obstacles before they emerge - including coming to the table with proposed solutions, rather than waiting for other team members to identify or resolve blockers.
Adaptability & excellent organizational skills are a must. Creative problem solving will be key. For the right candidate, this will be an incredibly fun, challenging, and fulfilling opportunity. If this is you, we’d love to have you as part of the team.
What You’ll Own
- Build reliable product execution plans including realistic timetables for design, testing, sampling, and production.
- Efficiently advance key PD projects by directing key stakeholders to ensure on-track progress.
- Liaising with Woof’s external suppliers for product sampling, testing, and manufacturing scale-up.
- Bridging the design & creative departments for efficient packaging execution.
- Coordinating design revisions as needed to deliver top quality products.
- Reporting to leadership on project timing, progress and potential obstacles. Independently identifying & proposing solutions to said obstacles as they come up.
- Working cross functionally with Woof’s internal departments - i.e. sales, marketing, ops, etc. - to make sure PD needs are assigned to the proper parties.
- Evaluating prototypes, production samples, and finished products to ensure quality. Providing clear & direct feedback as needed.
- Creating and maintaining project and product documentation.
Example Projects:
- See new dog products to fruition: work with our in-house design team on concepts, hand off tech pack & related assets to manufacturers & provide fill-in information as needed, report key project attributes (pricing, lead time, obstacles) to leadership, implement revisions with the design team as needed, bring creative & design together for product/project kickoffs, engage opps for order planning then hand off all deliverables for final purchasing.
- Work with sales on in-store marketing collateral including displays, signage, and more. Identify key project specs & shepherd to Woof departments as appropriate. Liaise between internal departments (design/creative) and suppliers to make sure key timelines are met. Hand off all purchasing assets to opps when ready.
- Research, evaluate & engage outside contractors as needed to support key PD initiatives.
- Engage suppliers for projects including sending out RFQs, analyzing supplier pros & cons, managing samples, identifying blockers, and reporting suggested paths forward to leadership.
- Field inbound product & development requests from internal team members. Engage the proper stakeholders & prioritize tasks as needed.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- 3- 5+ years of product development experience in CPG with a successful track record of bringing new products to life.
- Product Manufacturing: direct experience with the full life cycle of product development from conceptualization to prototyping, design, and production.
- Familiarity working with overseas vendors.
- Experience with injection molding, silicone molding, consumable manufacturing, and packaging development is a plus.
