Our Mission at Scythe

Humanity has lost touch with nature - we’ve traded dirt and trees for asphalt, and we rely on loud, polluting, gas-powered machines to care for our limited natural spaces.
Scythe is forging a new future by building intelligent, all-electric machines that unlock a new superpower: the ability to care for the outdoors pollution-free at enormous scale. From today’s first steps in landscape maintenance to full-fledged re-terraforming in the future, Scythe is pioneering autonomous machinery that supports the ingenuity of humans, multiplying our power to nurture our planet.
At Scythe, you’ll work with a team of world-class experts in everything from computer vision to mechanical engineering, pushing the limits of possibility and growing by overcoming hurdles along the way.
The world needs what we’re building—come join us in making it a reality.

Robotics Product Manager at Scythe

Scythe is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Robotics Product Manager to help take our autonomous lawn mowers to the next level. You will be responsible for developing and owning the requirements for AI/ML based software (perception, motion planning, control, etc.). You will work closely with the customer team to understand marketing and sales roadmaps and align core capabilities to future opportunities, and with the leadership team to prioritize differentiated capabilities. We are looking for a customer-obsessed individual who thrives in ambiguity and can blend achievability with desirability.

What you’ll do at Scythe:

  • Manage the product roadmap for short and long-term feature development in a hybrid hardware-software development environment, reprioritizing product backlogs as necessary
  • Conduct market and customer discovery through customer visits, interviews, and surveys. Evangelize the customer and drive company-wide understanding of the market and customer context
  • Analyze competition and align goals, success metrics, and roadmap with Scythe's mission based on data analysis, market research, and usability studies
  • Foster cross-functional partnerships and effectively communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions to various audiences
  • Ensure effective communication of new product features and benefits to customers and support all areas of the organization, including Sales, Support, and Services
  • Drive teams to weigh tradeoffs, make effective decisions, and stay flexible in pursuit of the most effective outcomes

What you know well:

  • Product Management experience in robotics (Preferably 5+ years)
  • In depth understanding and working experience in one or more areas related to robotics, autonomy, AI/ML or data infrastructure
  • Strong experience with products that combine both hardware and software, and understanding of what it takes to scale the following:
    • Hardware products/platforms (incl. safety, compliance, reliability)
    • Software products/platforms with AI/ML, algorithms, or deep data foundation
  • Demonstrated track record in key areas such as product discovery, prioritization, GTM enablement, and product scaling
  • Ability to develop and deliver against deeply technical multi-year roadmaps that impact multiple products
  • Communicating effectively, both written and verbal, with an intuition for communication strategy
  • Effectively collaborating across different departments to bring concepts from idea to reality; designing scalable and extensible solutions while working closely with engineering to ensure feasibility
  • Thriving in a fast-growing startup environment
  • Working on and building cutting edge technology!

What you’ve maybe done:

  • Acquired a Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, or a related field
  • Presented to leadership and external audiences
  • Successful launch of a new hardware product or implemented an AI/ML solution that significantly improved efficiency
  • Utilized project management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Slack, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable land stewardship
