Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

Description of the Position

The VP of Advanced Programs leads the business development team in the development of strategy, pipeline, and proposal management lifecycle from opportunity development to proposal submission and project kickoff. The VP leads development of business strategies to achieve aggressive and sustainable growth targets. Additionally, the VP plays a key role in establishing the strategic plan, setting BD priorities, leading client engagements, identifying teaming partners, identifying/mitigating risks, and growing the business organically in the market space.

Job Details:

  • Represent Agile’s propulsion system design, manufacturing, and hot-fire testing capabilities to potential customers and partners.
  • Preparing and delivering pitches and presentations to potential new clients
  • Instill customer confidence in Agile’s technology and experience through open and informed communication.
  • Dialogue with customers on high level propulsion system requirements and make initial assessment of Agile fit to customer needs in addition to collecting relevant and accurate customer needs for internal engineering team
  • Develop deep working relationships with Agile’s internal engineering and operations teams to understand capabilities and needs.
  • Work very closely with internal engineering and operations teams to close on customer offerings that Agile is well suited to execute and meet customer needs.
  • Responsible for the generation of strategically relevant new business leads according to Agile strategy.
  • Orchestrate Bid and proposal process to support opportunity conversion from lead stage through proposal submission and negotiation.
  • Assemble and manage small proposal teams
  • Responsibility for relationship building and management with a set of government and commercial customers.
  • Provide and open and warm communications link to the customer base.
  • Track, prioritize and report business development activities and progress.
  • Closely partner across ASI departments to strategically align strategies and technologies, enabling near-term 21st Century mission solutions and long-term roadmap synergies.
  • Be a valued set of eyes and ears to the company with respect AGILE opportunities and threats in the marketplace.
  • Advanced business acumen including the ability to investigate, comprehend, and interpret complex business challenges, and think and act both strategically and tactically assess and build effective customer relationships both externally and throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ plus years of aerospace and defense industry experience.
  • Minimum 5+ Years of developing and working with propulsion systems and/or componentry.
  • An established network of relevant contacts in civil, commercial and defense propulsion
  • Experience developing value propositions and writing proposals and participating in contracts with government agencies and private companies
  • High energy, self-motivated with a solid work ethic and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with a successful track record at high growth startup organizations will be favored.
  • Effective communicator with strong oral, public speaking, writing, and PowerPoint skills
  • Collaborative, positive, team player with a willingness to jump in and support our team members as needed
  • Experience managing people through complex bid and proposal processes
  • Schedule must have flexibility to accommodate the tight deadlines and unexpected high-priority tasks associated with aerospace business development
  • Experience in business development or capture management with proposal development experience, including developing business strategies focused on customer values.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated team leadership that includes proven communication and presentation skills, effective decision making, building consensus, conflict resolution, and sustaining the team's energy and commitment.
  • Experience in US Space Defense, Civil Space, and Commercial Space sectors
  • Experience in designing for advanced materials and manufacturing processes
  • Remote working is acceptable, though significant travel will be required
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance

Employment Type: Exempt

Salary: $ 140,000 – $220,000

Work Schedule: Full Time
